Relationship Between COVID-19-related Factors and Self-management Behaviors in People with Type-2 Diabetes: A Cross-sectional Study

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a risk factor for long-term complications and mortality in people with diabetes. Diabetes self-management can prevent the adverse effects of COVID-19. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate association between COVID-19-related personal, familial, psychological factors diabetes self-management. Methods: The research was conducted using simple non-probability sampling method at Institute Endocrinology Metabolism Iran University Medical Sciences. A total 102 type-2 participated study. Their inclusion criteria were diagnosis least one year, an age 30 65 years, literacy, no personal or family history COVID-19 past two months. Self-management Questionnaire assessed participants' behaviors. data recorded information form. Distress Scale Patient Health measured distress depressive symptoms, respectively. evaluated Psychological Scale, Anxiety Fear Scale. Results: Pearson correlation test showed that number times their members infected hospitalized due COVID-19, distress, symptoms negatively related Doses vaccine injection also positively correlated (P < 0.05).
